Have you ever felt like you were forcing yourself through life?
Forcing yourself to show up. Forcing yourself to take action. Forcing yourself to become the person you thought you needed to be.
For a long time, that was my reality.
It felt like pressure. Rigid intensity. Resistance. Sometimes even resentment.
I had dreams and goals and things I felt called toward, but fear and self-limiting beliefs always seemed to get in the way. The truth is, I didn’t really believed in myself. Not fully.
Perfectionism became the norm because I believed that if I wasn’t perfect, I wouldn’t be enough. And when you’re carrying that belief around, every step forward feels heavy. It’s like trying to move toward something you want while simultaneously fighting yourself the entire way.
Can you imagine how much energy that takes? It’s like going to war with yourself. And for what? Why do we resist the very things that call us?
Resistance As a Sign of Growth
I think it’s because a calling asks us to trust something new. It asks us to become someone we’ve never been before. It asks us to take action before we feel ready. Maybe that’s why people say it’s about the journey, not the destination. The journey is where we learn who we are. It’s where we build trust in ourselves.
This year has taught me a lot about that.
More than anything, it’s taught me to keep showing up. To be patient. To stop trying to figure everything out before taking action.
Listen. Trust. Act.
Learning to Trust the Process
I used to overthink everything. Every decision felt huge. Every piece of creation, every conversation, every step I wanted to take carried so much weight. In reality, I was getting in my own way.
What I’ve realized is that we don’t have to carry our calling—or our lives—with force.
We can approach it with patience. We can accept where we are while still moving toward where we want to go.
When we show up with diligence, trust, and persistence, something shifts. We stop fighting ourselves and start building evidence that we can do hard things. Every action becomes a stand for the person we’re becoming.
I felt this while building my website.
For the longest time, it felt like this giant mountain in front of me. Every time I thought about it, I’d feel overwhelmed. Thinking to myself, how on earth am I supposed to get all the way up there?
The answer ended up being much simpler than I thought…
One step at a time.
Every day.
That’s it!
Building Self-Trust
Little by little, the mountain started appearing smaller. Not because it changed, but because my perspective and daily action changed. I changed.
Every promise I kept to myself built trust. Every small action reinforced that I am capable.
And that’s really what self-trust has taught me.
It’s not believing you can do everything. It’s believing you’ll keep showing up.
To me, this process feels co-creative. I do my part by taking action and showing up each day. The rest, I leave to the Universe. I don’t have to carry the weight of my entire future on my shoulders.
My job is simply to trust, take the next step, and allow life to unfold.
From Force to Flow
We can think of force like pushing, and flow like allowing.
For years, force was all I knew. I thought pushing harder was the answer. I thought if I could just try harder, work harder, be better, I’d finally arrive somewhere.
But flow does not come from force…
Flow comes when we’re fully engaged in something meaningful and aligned with who we are. When we’re challenged enough to grow but not so consumed by the outcome that we forget to enjoy the process.
The challenge is part of it. If growth were easy, it wouldn’t ask anything of us.
I think the challenge is what makes the journey worthwhile. It’s what builds resilience, confidence, and self-trust.
So let’s embrace the challenge.
Every time we show up when we don’t feel like it, we strengthen our relationship with ourselves. Every time we honor our word, we build trust. Every time we take one small step, we create momentum.
And maybe that’s where purpose lives. In the way we choose to show up today.
So how are you showing up? Are you approaching your life with force, resistance, fear, and self-doubt? Or are you approaching it with patience, trust, and flow?
The actions might look the same from the outside, but the energy behind them creates a completely different experience.
You’ll know the difference because force often feels somatically like tightness, anxiety, heaviness, and impatience. Flow, on the other hand, feels like lightness, vitality, clarity, and peace.
We’re All Works of Art in Progress
At the beginning of this year, I chose three words to guide me: confidence, patience, and fun.
Ironically, confidence didn’t come first. Patience did.
As I learned to trust the process (patience), through my daily action, my confidence grew. As my confidence grew, life has become much more enjoyable. There’s now room for creativity, play, and joy because I am no longer fighting myself every step of the way.
I believe my calling is to help people reconnect with themselves. To see beyond the fear, conditioning, and stories they’ve been carrying for years. To trust who they are underneath it all and build a life that genuinely lights them up.
This is a journey. One I’m proud, excited, and humbled to walk everyday.
Every choice matters.
We’re not moving in circles. We’re spiraling upward.
So keep going.
Keep growing.
Trust the process.
We’re all works of art in progress.
